Welcome home Saturn!

saturnarticle

I have been seeing plenty of material over the last few weeks written about Saturn entering Capricorn yesterday so instead of writing anything on it myself, I soaked in the last of Sagittarius/Saturn energy and rode the waves into Capricorn. I wanted to feel the full extent instead of intellectualizing it, which I have a tendency to overdue, and let me tell you…it felt great! Honestly, it was liberating, which would seem a little odd for Saturn, bearer of chains, entering its ruling sign of hard working Capricorn. I guess my Aquarius moon dancing with my natal Saturn feels more than happy to have Capricorn controlling Saturn again- Sagittarius just didn’t really know what to do with him!

I know that’s how I felt in my case- how do I blend those two energies? I had a lot of great ideas, and now that Saturn is back in Capricorn, I feel the freedom to carry out those ideas to the best of my abilities. Beautiful!

Immediately, the Virgo midheaven I am, I decided to start a plan of action for 2018. I’m ready to hunker down again and get the ball rolling on the things I’m most passionate about instead of making excuses as to why I can’t. Many people write down intentions for moon phases, and those are great for short term goals, but this is prime time for long term goals. Where do you want to be in three years? What can you do to get there? What do you need to work harder on and what might you need to let go? You have two and a half years to utilize the strength of Saturn in Capricorn, and then another two and a half to expand upon that with Aquarius. This is where you do the work and reap the rewards. Saturn wants to help you succeed.

Welcome to Mercury Retrograde!

notes-514998_960_720

Mercury stationed direct December 3rd and turned retrograde December 4th at the very end of Sagittarius- just before it entered into Capricorn. Mercury wasn’t ready to solidify the lessons learned while transiting Sagittarius. Mercury will take the next month to rewind, reflect, and relearn. January 11th 2018 is when these lessons will be solidified; Mercury will enter Capricorn and finally turn ideas into reality.

Mercury retrograde is known for disruptions in travel, communication mistakes, scheduling difficulties, technology malfunctions and the past coming back to ‘haunt’ us. All of these things are more likely during Mercury Retrograde, but that’s not all there is to it.

Think about what this means- Mercury, the actual planet in the sky, looks as if it is moving backward in its orbit. In reality, it’s not moving backward, it just looks like it is. Take this into account when analyzing how it affects us- there may be scheduling errors, problems with travel, technology issues, communication not going as planned, etc. All of this is due to perceiving the situations incorrectly (perceiving that the planet is moving backward but it’s really not). How can we remedy this? Be patient, take your time, avoid making huge decisions especially regarding signing contracts- things are foggy, and with careful planning mistakes can be avoided, but it’s better to wait until the fog lifts.

You don’t have to hide under a rock until December 23rd and the retrograde is over. Mercury retrograde can be an amazing time for reflection and reworking things you’ve put to the side. It’s also a great time to focus on your dreams, writing down and thinking about what they might be trying to tell you. It’s a time for silence and reflection.

This specific Mercury Retrograde in Sagittarius will be in a trine to Uranus. Uranus can create even more difficulties surrounding technology on a mundane level, but on a personal development level, it can show great strides in communicating with ourselves. Uranus can create an electric environment, and with Mercury turning your thoughts inward, it creates a lot of mental energy that will need to be harnessed effectively. Writing down random thoughts, creating a log for your dreams upon waking, making lists of what needs to be done, etc. are all ways you can harness this energy. Don’t let this intense energy turn into nervous energy- skip the paranoia and worry and trust yourself and the universe to provide. Trust that you can get through whatever is thrown your way and the worries will fade. New ideas will be sparked; you can take past situations and see them in a completely different light, aiding in healing past wounds. Inspiration will strike if you’re letting yourself be open to it.

What does this mean for you and where should you focus?

Aries; This Mercury retrograde is about expanding your mind and your energy. You’ll want to reflect on where you want to go from where you currently reside, mentally, physically, and spiritually. Talk to yourself about your views on life and decide if they are helping or hindering your path. Decide what you want your path to be and write down steps to bring yourself toward manifesting those desires.

Taurus; You might feel yourself in uncomfortable territory with this Mercury Retrograde because it’s asking you to look deeply inside yourself and how you relate to others on a level beyond the surface. You might want to avoid the past, or you might not want to let it go, but you’re being asked to stare straight into the abyss and confront what you see. If you’ve been holding onto past hurts or any sort of bitterness, reflect on why you can’t loosen your grip. The theme is to understand and then to let go.

Gemini; Other people may seem less than transparent with you but look at yourself and decide if you are being completely open and honest. Reflect on how you wish others would treat you and if you are allowing that energy into your life, or if you are showing it yourself to others. This Mercury Retrograde season wants you to reflect on your relationships with others, both currently and in the past, and figure out how you can do things more positively and from the heart.

Cancer; What do you do on a daily basis that nourishes your body and soul? Mercury demands you look inside yourself and ask if you’re treating yourself with love and respect. Create a plan for adding in positivity to your daily life. You’ve likely already been thinking about this and brewing up some ideas on how to create a better life for yourself mentally and physically.

Leo; Uranus teaming up with Mercury Retrograde this season is likely to spawn a massive amount of creativity for you! Write down all your ideas, even ones that might seem silly, and hold them close to you. These are very potent times for self-evaluation. Reflect on what you feel confident about, what you want to bring into the world, fun relationships with others and how you can bring about the most light. Reflect on your inner child and if you are feeding them or hindering their expression. If you are hindering your inner child use this Mercury Retrograde to get to know them and relearn how to play.

Virgo; Thinking about your childhood (maybe even your own children) is likely to pop up this Mercury retrograde. Your home needs to be a cozy environment for you to thrive during this season. Observe how your environment affects your mood. You are a prime candidate for dream mapping this month. You can use this as one technique to heal childhood traumas and painful memories from your past. Your family and home will be the number one source of comfort this month.

Libra; This season is about taking a look at how you communicate with others and how important words can be. Think things through before impulsively jumping in. You should also look at how you talk to yourself and whether it brings about positive or negative results. Writing down, speaking, or reading new ideas will continuously spark new ones. Observe whether you are afraid of sharing your voice with others and take steps to be more confident, if you lack confidence, in sharing your ideas.

Scorpio; A more serious tone is needed for this Mercury Retrograde, asking you to reflect on what you call your own and decide if it’s a healthy attachment or one creating discord. Ask yourself if you’re living by your truest values, in fact, ask yourself what those values are! Write them down, explore them, hone in on what needs to be done to live according to your soul. Are you relying too much on material things or feel like you’re missing a part of yourself? Dive into these feelings- you will find out what is missing and what you can do to bring peace back into your life.

Sagittarius; Internally, you’ll need to take a look at yourself and decide if you are being authentically you. How are you denying yourself, how are you rewarding yourself, how are you presenting yourself to others? If you’ve felt lost, now is the time to find yourself. Take a step back from life if it is too chaotic to spend time with yourself to think.

Capricorn; This Mercury retrograde will be extra foggy for you, possibly making you uncomfortable with what comes up. What have you been hiding from yourself and others? Have you been denying yourself or others crucial parts of your life? Secrets will bubble up either during or right after Mercury Retrograde, either outwardly or internally, and you’ll be forced to deal with what you’ve repressed. Do you have resentments you need to let go of? Stare into the abyss (Taurus will be staring at it with you) and don’t run from what you see. Think about compassion, for yourself and others, and decide how you can incorporate it in your life.

Aquarius; You’ll be pleased with Uranus connecting with this Mercury Retrograde because it means extra insights into your hopes, dreams, and plans for the future. It can provide new ways of looking at friendships and how they either bring about positivity or negativity to your life. Ask yourself what you want your future to look like and if the people or situations you surround yourself with help or hinder that dream.

Pisces; The way others see you might weigh heavily on your mind during this season. Are you presenting yourself in a way you’re proud of? Are you obsessing too much about success or lack of it? Think about how you judge yourself and others depending on their ‘status’ or perceived success. Spend time reshaping your views on success, jobs, the future, and reputation into a more positive and compassionate approach. Write down your plans for the future and how you can take steps to get there without harming your own sense of self or others.

Venus into Sagittarius Horoscopes

sagittarius-34256_640

Yesterday, December 1st, Venus entered into Sagittarius! She’s now transiting through Sagittarius, gifting each of us a new way to observe how we love and what we love. What does this mean for each sign?

Aries, Venus is hitting your house of expansion. It’s time to explore! Travel, expand your mind, focus on higher learning, discover new things that excite you. Venus is feeling very happy here and wants to bring you on an adventure.

Taurus, Venus is delving deep inside you. It’s time to take a deeper look at yourself- take your time navigating your inner world. Avoid ignoring issues you know need to be explored. You can make great strides if you listen to your heart.

Gemini, Venus feels quite at home in your 7th house of relationships. This is a great time to focus on your relationship and do extra romantic things. If single, it’s an optimistic time of new budding romances.

Cancer, you are focusing on your body and health while Venus is transiting Sagittarius. You may be extra focused on becoming more healthy, and if you aren’t, you should take steps to care for yourself on a day to day basis. Perhaps start a yoga routine, eat some extra leafy vegetables, and drink more water. That’s just a start!

Leo, you’re feeling extra sassy and flirty now! You might have a boost in creativity and desires to go out and let a little loose. Have some fun, connect with your inner child.

Virgo, your home life is extra important. You might want to redecorate or clean up a bit around the house. Add something special to your home that makes it more beautiful. Now is a great time to cozy up with yourself or your loved ones and simply appreciate what you have.

Libra, Venus might make you more chatty than normal. Talk to your siblings or neighbors, find some friends, talk about what you love and what they love. Share gratitude for what you have in your life. Write and read! Something might be revealed to you that you’ve been trying to figure out for awhile now.

Scorpio, now is a time to truly love and take care of yourself. Think about your values and what is most important to you. If you stay true to yourself, this time will be filled with cozy feelings. If you have been straying from your true self, you need to reevaluate and start listening to and loving yourself for who you truly are.

Sagittarius, Venus in your 1st means it’s time to let your personality shine through! Being yourself won’t be hard and you’ll likely feel confident this month, sharing beauty with those around you.

Capricorn, this time is about looking inside yourself. Meditating can be helpful, but Sagittarius in your 12th will illuminate how you treat love and beauty in your life and demand you take steps to harvest true love in your life.

Aquarius, you want to spend more time with your friends and so you should! You find a sense of loving connection when with those you love. Write down hopes and wishes and steps to manifest those into your life!

Pisces, you might be focused on how others view you or your career. This is a good time to map out what you want to do with your life, or how you want to put your mark on the world. You’ll be feeling optimistic about the future.

Cancer Full Moon, January 12th 2017

nature-3058859_640

I am unsure how to start this post because there is simply too much to say about this full moon coming up in less than 12 hours. I know I’m late in posting this, and I even tried to avoid the responsibility I felt in writing something about it, but here I am…being pulled in…as Luna does every time.

Welcome to the Cancer Full Moon energy, the truest of all full moons, the deepest part of the moon’s soul. Luna is opposing the Capricorn Sun, sending a message to us about our emotional nature and the way we structure our lives. For me, personally, I see this message quite clear. This particular full moon sits right on top of my Mars, urging me to take to heart the lessons the Cancer Full Moon is shining in my face: feel and don’t stop feeling. Don’t apologize for feeling. Live to the point of tears, as my dearest Albert Camus said (also shares with me the same Mars placement in degree and sign, as well as Sun/Moon/Mercury!!). I am truly grasping this concept, learning that these tears are not always sad, but can be beautiful as well. Embrace the beauty that brings you to tears.

Enough about me though, what does this mean for everyone? It follows along the same lines. Take a look at how you live your life- are you forcing yourself to repress certain emotions? Are you allowing your emotions to rule your life? Are you feeling numb or apathetic? Are you feeling overwhelmed and manic? All these things can relate to being too heavily reliant on one side of this teeter-totter. If you feel like Capricorn is weighing too heavily on you to where you can’t find joy in simple things or you’re too exhausted to enjoy relaxing at home and with those you love, then look to Cancer and bring some nurturing into your life. If you feel like Cancer is weighing too heavily on you to where you’re depressed, lonely, or letting your emotions get the better of you, look to Capricorn, set some easily achievable goals and go for them, bring a little more structure to your life, but don’t forget to do so while having an open heart.

In general, this full moon is making some rough connections with other big players in the horoscope for Thursday: A Grand Cardinal Cross to be exact. It urges us to get moving but also cautioning that it’s not going to be that easy to do so. Lessons are being dished out left and right, so navigate with care. In fact, rather than physically ‘getting moving,’ I suggest making a plan first. The full moon is opposing Pluto which is conjunct the sun, transforming ourselves in order to better connect with our emotional nature (that’s the goal at least) as well as squaring Jupiter and Uranus (think wide-scale and sudden). Jupiter and Uranus are of course squaring the sun/Pluto as well, forcing us into the widescale transformations.

If this is making you panic, stop, take a breath, and listen. YOU have the ability to transform this intense energy into something beautiful, something healing for yourself. The way to survive any transit, no matter how ‘possibly difficult,’ is to go at it with an open heart and to learn to let go of all that is unneeded and to trust that this is boosting you toward where you are meant to be in order to be the best version of yourself. The stars will bring the energy, it’s up to you to use it in a positive way. So get excited! It’s a great time to make goals, set resolutions, create intentions, meditate, focus on compassion, write down your feelings, etc.

The full moon wants to cradle you in her arms, whispering secrets of the universe into your ear until you fall fast asleep and dream up ways to create a beautiful reality.

Much love and light,

Vesta Lyn

The Ascendant Sign as Baby Birds

bird-2234964_960_720

I have been reading Howard Sasportas recently and came across a technique I quite fancy. He briefly mentions the rising sign as a baby bird hatching from its shell. What kind of a bird is this? How does this bird hatch from its shell? These are the questions the sign of the ascendant answers, showing how you approach new things. I thought it’d be a fun exercise to do a write up on the signs and their bird’s hatching personality, so here it is! Feel free to comment, message, or respond with your own creative interpretations.

Aries rising: You almost violently peck away at the shell surrounding you, eager to see what that brightness is on the outside- eager to see what the ‘outside’ actually is! You break open the shell and immediately jump out, feeling spiky pine-needles under your feet, step up the edge of the nest, and burst into the air, ready to explore the world!

Taurus rising: You know its time to break open your shell but you’re warm and you’re unsure of what you’ll find. You can feel yourself crushed against the edges and know you can’t stay much longer. You worry about your safety. You realize your tummy is rumbling. You decide to break open the shell with steady punctures to the same side. The world is bright. You scream for food and your mother shoves crushed worms down your throat. You feel the cool breeze on your feathers. Maybe this isn’t so bad…

Gemini rising: You can hardly wait to burst out of this shell, you can’t stop thinking of all the possibilities that the outside has to offer! You start to peck. The light that shines through the cracks delights you so much you start to sing. You hear your mother singing back. You peck yourself to freedom and take in the colors, the vast assortment of sounds. You thought you’d be satisfied seeing the outside, but you are more curious than ever.

Cancer rising: You know you have to leave your shell, but the thought of it makes you want to cry. You secretly fear you will never find the comfort of your shell again. You refuse to leave. Eventually, you grow so large you break open your shell. You cry because the air is so cold and the sky is so bright. Your mother curls up next to your side. The light seems more bearable and the warmth is better than you ever thought possible. You feel like you can do anything!

Leo rising: You wait until sounds around your shell quiet, and you know it’s your time. You peck yourself out of your shell, opening your wings as if embracing the world. The others in the nest look at you in awe. You know how to make an appearance. The sun shines through your feathers just right and you feel like the king of the world.

Virgo rising: You peck once in the lower left corner of your shell, once in the lower right, and three times at the very top, creating a hole perfectly big enough to fit yourself through. You leave the shell, wipe off the remnants, and shake yourself off.

Libra rising: You hear the chatter outside your shell and excitedly peck yourself out of it, eager to join the others. You know it’s the right time because they are all out of their shells already. You wobble your way over to the other birds, stand directly in the middle of two of your siblings, and learn how to chirp with the rest of them.

Scorpio rising: You’re extremely apprehensive about leaving your shell. There seems to be something not right ‘out there.’ Even though you hear your other siblings, you have a feeling they will all start to shriek any second now. You realize that whatever danger is out there, they can’t handle it on their own! You burst through your shell with one fierce peck. Everything seems okay. You start to relax…but keep a sharp piece of your shell near by ‘just in case…’

Sagittarius rising: You peck three times, then twice, then a couple more, and eventually you are free. What does this mean? Freedom? You ask your mother. She tries to feed you a worm. You try to explain that you don’t have time for such trivialities but she insists. You take the worm, choke it down, then fly into the air without any goodbyes. There’s too much to explore, too little time to explore it!

Capricorn rising: You weigh the pros and cons of leaving your shell. Cons, you will no longer be warm, you are unsure of what is out there, you are actually kind of scared (you take that back, you’re never scared). Pros, there’s so much more potential outside of your shell as inside there are zero. You decide to make the leap. You peck yourself out of your shell, slowly, and deliberately. You observe your surroundings and decide how you are going to manipulate them to your benefit.

Aquarius rising: You have no reason for pecking in random intervals at the shell around you, but you find yourself doing it anyway. There’s a peck there, three pecks here, you take a short break and ponder what a strange process birthing is. You eventually end up outside of your shell covered in million tiny pieces. You see your siblings on the other side of the nest trying to share a worm. You wobble over and cut it into equal pieces and you all share together happily.

Pisces rising: You don’t even need to peck open your shell because it melts away around you. The nest melts away too and you find yourself floating in the warmth of the sun you never knew existed until that day, and you wonder how you got there, quickly lose the thought, and just enjoy the moment.

Mars in Aries

horoscope-639126_640

Those with their Mars in Aries are feisty individuals. They have extremely high energy levels, like most fire signs, and need to have an outlet for this since Mars is the planet of action! Mars is at home in Aries- it feels alive here, and Aries loves to use Mars to its advantage. Together, they create an individual who is passionate about ACTION. They are driven- sometimes embarking on new projects without fully planning them out or thinking realistically about them. They may miss small details because they are so impulsive, leaving either picking up the pieces later on…or more likely, quickly forgetting about it and moving on to the next thing. They may have quick tempers but they forget their anger as quickly as is comes. Sometimes they say and do things in the heat of the moment that they regret later but they chalk it up to living in the moment and try to not let it bother them- and it usually doesn’t. They speak what’s on their mind when it’s on their mind. Mars in Aries need to be true to themselves and that means baring it all. They hate lazy people and find them quite boring. They are not known for being patient. Long lines and slow-walkers frustrate them. They find speedy and adequate more impressive than slow and pristine. They are very active individuals and usually like to work out, play sports, hike, swim, or do any type of activity that involves being on their feet. If they are not getting adequate exercise, they tend to get annoyed easily with everyone and everything, so it is important to stay active. Many Mars in Aries like the feeling of leading the way. They are natural born leaders and so being in a leadership position makes them feel good about themselves, like they are fulfilling their role in life. Having others frolicking along behind them, or even beside them, keep them in high spirits and they feel much adoration for those who can keep up with them. If you can’t keep up with them…they will not stop nor look back. That brings us to relationships regarding Mars in Aries…it’s no surprise that these people tend to hop from one person to another- they passionately fall for someone as quickly as they leave them. Relationships do tend to be hot and steamy, but tend to result in lots of fights that Mars in Aries picks because they are bored. The sexual power of Mars in Aries is quite intense and overwhelming. They need a partner that doesn’t need anything special to get turned on and is in the mood when they’re in the mood. They need immediate results as they are not keen on delayed gratification. A partner who is lively, ambitious, sexual, active will keep a Mars in Aries person’s interest. They love to chase, whether they ‘have’ the person or not, so things need to constantly stay interesting. Sex is important. Emotions are important in long-term relationships, but they’d rather not talk about them much and just acknowledge that they are there. Sensitive people should avoid trying to be serious with Mars in Aries as they tend to be a little aggressive and persistent. They aren’t good at sugar-coating and find it in disingenuous to do so anyway. They are huge into individuality and will defend themselves vehemently to take the path they decide to take. They are really just children at heart and love to play and have a good time. If you can offer a Mars in Aries a good time, add some feisty undertones, and keep them on their toes…they will be in complete awe of you.

Mars in Sagittarius

fantasy-2770468_640

Considering that Mars is the planet of action, when we apply it to our personal charts it becomes how we take action. With Mars in Sagittarius, action is almost constant. These people have high energy levels and tend to move around a lot. They are excited by anything ‘new’ which means that they are continuously starting new projects, meeting new people, traveling to new places, learning new things, etc. Mars in Sagittarius does not care much for reputation but they do not want to be viewed as lazy or unintelligent. They are extremely invested in their own personal morality and can talk passionately about it for long periods of time given an ear that listens. They do not do well to criticism toward their belief system and will defend it vehemently. When they find others that agree with them, they tend to become instant friends and can create close bonds with others extremely quickly. This can also end very quickly, as Sagittarius is used to hopping from one thing to the other without much afterthought. They need to be stimulated physically and mentally in order to stay interested in an activity or a person. This means that they may not have many long-term relationships because they may get bored of the same person for too long. If their significant other can satisfy them sexually and mentally, they may stay in the relationship long enough to develop a true emotional connection. There is fine line with these people though- they tend to get scared when others are emotionally investing in them, or when they start to emotionally invest in someone else. They usually leave for fear of commitment, but again, if satisfied enough to stay, and if an emotional connection is shared, then the Sagittarian lover will be loyal and doting. Those with their Mars in Sagittarius thrive off of new experiences. They treat everything they encounter as something they can put in their learning bank. They like to talk about things they’ve done, but they LOVE to talk about things they are planning to do. They tend to be able to make friends wherever they go because they are very interesting people. They know a lot about a variety of subjects (because they love to learn!) and have a good sense of humor. They can be a little loud and quirky, but people are drawn to them because of this. They are super fun to be around and tend to be the life of the party, or at least the highlight of someone’s night. Mars in Sagittarius is optimistic and otherworldly- they are not known for being super realistic but think that anything is possible so what’s the point of limiting yourself! They usually have a unique and infectious laugh and are good at making other people laugh. They are inspired by invention, generosity, grandeur, and motion. They are impressed by those who never tire, who are strong, fast, and innovative. They tend to be body-conscious and want to look lean, or at the least, healthy. They enjoy excelling and don’t like to be in second place. Sometimes these people can get a ‘god-complex’ which is normal for Jupiter-ruled people, but it can be offset with plenty of outlets to let out their energy, both mental and physical. Mars in Sagittarius is one that likes to share their knowledge with others, to teach others, but does not like to be called out for being wrong or preachy. When called preachy, Sagittarius tends to then GET preachy, if they weren’t before. They want you to have their same opinion and it pains them when you don’t at least admit to seeing their side of things. They are generally pretty open-minded despite this and forgive transgressions quickly and easily. They don’t like to have people on their ‘bad side’ or to be on someone else’s.
