Scorpio Rising

Scorpio Rising – I Desire, Therefor I am

Looks & Lens

Scorpio Rising individuals are known for having penetrating eyes. They are normally a fan of eye-contact, and if they don’t do it naturally, they use it in order to get points across such as attraction, aggression, or curiosity. More physical characteristics include a seductive and/or powerful face. When looking serious, they can come across as intimidating. Sharp noses and hooded eyes are also commonly found. Many Scorpio risings seem mysterious at first sight and have an air of knowing many secrets of life or being able to read your mind. Scorpio rising might even be able to read your mind, as their lens is Scorpionic, penetrating deeply into life. They experience the world deeply — this can bring about intense emotions including obsession and paranoia. The negative manifestations can be transformed into healing qualities. Scorpio rising can detect weaknesses, insecurities, and traumas within another. They are amazing at transferring energy through their presence, so when positive, they can brighten someone’s mood, and when negative, easily bring another down. They often don’t show heavy emotion in public and tend to shy away from heavy social gatherings because the energy exposure can be exhausting. They are not fans of being touched by strangers and will often flinch at accidental hand grazes or back pats. They need to be prepared to make physical contact, even with friends, as they tend to always be on high-alert. Scorpio risings are the queens and kings of fight or flight mode and can benefit from learning how to relax more and not think that everyone and everything is out to get them.

Procession of Houses

This procession of houses is for those WITHOUT interceptions in their chart. If you have an interception or your Scorpio rising starts late in the sign, this will not be exact.

Scorpio rising sees themselves as dark, mysterious, and complicated. They wouldn’t want it any other way. Scorpio rising will see those with a —

Scorpio Sun, as similar to themselves, but there might also be some competition.

Scorpio Venus, as attractive, fun, or even an ideal mate.

Scorpio Mars, as desirable or dangerous.

Scorpio Mercury, as stimulating and interesting.

Scorpio Saturn, as stifling, serious, or a good business partner/someone to commit to.

Scorpio Jupiter, as expansive, free, helpful, fair, or perhaps excessive.

Scorpio Pluto, as a catalyst (Yup, that means an entire generation of catalysts! Because Pluto moves so slowly, it makes sense that Scorpios are constantly transforming because they hit so many Pluto points in their lifetime.)

2nd house: Money brings freedom, freedom is security. Often good at making money, but also may spend it quickly, especially on experiences.

3rd house: Mind constructs are opportunistic, curious in practical ways, writes/communicates/learns in order to create concrete opportunities.

4th house: Family life often quirky, given opportunities to learn, emotions possibly stifled during childhood.

5th house: Imaginative and creative in life and relationships.

6th house: Enjoys working on their body or may be destructive toward the body, likes a busy daily life.

7th house: Needs stability in relationships, someone that can provide financial and/or emotional stability.

8th house: Endlessly curious about taboo and occult.

9th house: Traveling can be a very emotional experience, helping the native to learn how their heart works. Deeply devoted to higher knowledge & emotional expansiveness/openness.

10th house: Wants to be seen as the leader in their field and recognized for their efforts.

11th house: Particular when it comes to friendships.

12th house: Learns spirituality through relationships with others.

Ruling Planet/s

Scorpio risings are ruled by both Mars and Pluto. The sign and house that Mars and Pluto sit inside within the natal chart show even more about the lens of a Scorpio rising. Mars/Pluto energy combined together shows quite obviously why Scorpio risings are always on guard. Mars – action, violence, sex, anger combined with Pluto – deep transformation, loss, destruction, trauma makes for someone constantly looking out for the next trigger. Healing Pluto/Mars positions can help the native feel more at peace.

Scorpio risings with Mars in water or inside a water house will be extra sensitive to the world around them. They are likely psychic to a certain level and can be amazing shadow workers, helping others pinpoint the sources of their pain and expelling the pain.

Scorpio rising with Mars in fire or in a fire house will respond more impulsively to the world around them, perhaps lashing out without thinking things fully through. Either way, judgments about the world will be quick & it is beneficial for them to slow down. They can be amazing leaders, inspiring others through actions and words, backed up with deep truths.

Scorpio rising with Mars in earth or in an earth house will feel out experiences. They are usually slower to act, wanting to gather all the data first. Once making a decision, they are likely not to turn back. They can be amazing problem-solvers and physical healers.

Scorpio rising with Mars in air or an air house experience the world with intellectual precision. They want to understand everything going on around them, and then some. They are amazing at seeing different sides of situations and guessing thought processes and can be great mediators. They’re also great at explaining the world around them.

Pluto in Scorpio or in the 8th house will factor more heavily in the chart of a Scorpio rising, but the sign is generation so any other Pluto sign will only be used to describe the way Pluto works within their natal house position. The natal house position of Pluto for Scorpio risings show where they will constantly transform throughout their life (also including their general personality, sense of style, and way they present themselves as ALL Scorpio risings will go through major lifestyle and personality changes having Scorpio on the ascendant). Pluto in the house will be an underlying theme – it’s where they can find their deepest treasures if they go far enough into themselves, healing trauma from this life and past lives as they go.

Chiron Entering Aries: April 2018

heart-2433814_640

Can you feel something brewing beneath the surface, something big about to burst on the scene and change your entire outlook on life? If so, Chiron energy is bubbling inside you. 2018 marks the beginning of a long healing journey, one that demands your full attention and utmost enthusiasm. This is a re-birthing.

“Dance, when you’re broken open. Dance, if you’ve torn the bandage off. Dance in the middle of the fighting. Dance in your blood. Dance when you’re perfectly free.” Rumi

Say hello to Chiron entering Aries, April 18th, 2018. Terrifying? Maybe a little bit. Chiron is a wound, and Aries is the planet of war. What does that mean? It means it’s time to rethink everything we’ve ever thought or known about conflict, sex, power, war, independence, and opposition. Chiron will highlight these wounds inside of us, forcing us to come face to face with these uncomfortable issues. (Libras I’m looking at you! There will be no more fence-sitting!)

Chiron sitting in Aries doesn’t inherently strengthen your resolve or ability to take on warrior mentality. In fact, it does the opposite, making this energy feel heavy and difficult to embody. It puts a poisonous arrow in the area it sits forcing us to acknowledge it and consciously work to heal it. Where does it sit in your chart? What house will Chiron shine its light on, demanding inspection and revolution?

1st House; Authenticity – Chiron in Aries AND sitting in your 1st house of self both point to the same thing. It’s time to take the reins on your own life or the wound will fester. The wound is likely insecurity of self and confidence will need to be reviewed and built back up regardless of where the insecurity is coming from – it all starts and ends inside yourself. What is holding you back from your desires and how can you overcome those setbacks? What makes you feel unworthy of love or attention and how can you overcome these feelings and see yourself for the beautiful soul you are?

2nd House; Values – Chiron in Aries in your house of value is demanding you make your own decisions on what is important to you. Do you let others dictate your life or feed your view of yourself? Self-image and learning how to truly love and respect yourself is paramount. Truly getting to the core of what truly matters to you in life and how to live life more in accordance with those values will be healing.

3rd House; Constructs – Chiron in Aries sitting in your house of constructs is asking you to re-invent your life and tear down old thinking patterns that aren’t serving you anymore. Communication needs to be reviewed as well. Focus on how you talk about yourself, others, and the world around you. Are these positive and uplifting thoughts? Also think about whether your voice is heard, because it’s important to express your views and have them acknowledged. Everyone deserves to be heard.

4th House; Environment – Chiron in Aries in your 4th house wants you to look at three different things: childhood wounds, your current environment, and family structure. Now is the time to heal deep-seeded traumas that may plague you from childhood, and you can do that through changing your environment to a more healthy one and branching out beyond fear.

5th House; Creation – Chiron in Aries sitting in your house of creativity means you need to focus more on creating a life filled with more pleasure and joy. You inner child is crying out for help, wanting to be acknowledged. Do you feel like your life lacks excitement? Have you set aside what makes you giddy with joy for more mundane ventures? Now it the time to explore the fun side of life. This could also go the opposite way where your wound is from delving too deeply into pleasure and negative consequences follow – learn how to positively and healthily enjoy life without excess.

6th House; Health – Chiron in Aries in the house of routine will highlight wounds relating to health and daily routine. Perhaps your life have little direction and you need more structure to heal the wound, or perhaps your daily routine is slowly killing your soul. Either way, sticking to that which is not fulfilling you can make you sick, especially with this transit. Figure out how to integrate structure, health, and conscious living into your daily life.

7th House; Relationships; Chiron in Aries in the house of partnerships want you to look at friendships, relationships, coworkers, any anyone else you connect with on a day to day basis and observe how these interactions affect you. Do they drain you? Maybe you are the one draining others without realizing it? How can you work together with others in a more positive way? The way you relate to those close to you will be highlighted, making you observe patterns that aren’t working and changing those patterns into healthier alternatives.

8th House; Deep connection – Chiron in Aries in your house of sex, death, and connection requires you look at your deep relationships and explore if they’re healthy or hindering you. Wounds relating to sexuality or trust might come to the forefront. These issues are not easy and should not be skimmed over. Sexual healing can bring immense relief during this time. Learning how to trust and forgive will seem almost impossible, but it’s the way to healing the wound. The death of a loved one may be looming over you, whether recent or in the past – it’s now that you can look at death in a new light and move forward. Chiron asks you here to look at your baggage you’ve accumulated throughout your life, acknowledge it, and let it go.

9th House; Expansion; Chiron in Aries in your house of expansion asks you to see what’s holding you back. Where do you need to expand yourself out more, and where have you been hiding in order to protect yourself from perceived danger? This could be physically or related to education. You CAN accomplish what you want, and what you seek is in arms reach – you just have to believe in yourself enough to go get it. The chains may feel heavy and you may feel stuck, but ask yourself – how can you break free?

10th House; Image – Chiron in Aries in the house of success wants you to reshape how you view success and let go of defeating thoughts. Your job and outer reputation may be the source of the wound- release yourself from constant criticism or fear of failure. Release yourself from that which doesn’t excite your soul.

11th House; The future – Chiron in Aries in the house of hopes and dreams may mean the future seems bleak or your dreams seem unattainable. What circumstances are keeping you from achieving happiness? Are there friendships that need to be let go in order for you to thrive?

12th House; Unconscious – Chiron in Aries in the house of the unconscious is stirring up repression emotions and traumas that need to be brought up, explored, and ultimately let go in order to stop you from reacting to these unconscious issues. It’s also important to look at where you give up your power, feel hopeless, and are stuck repeating negative behaviors. Think healing addictions, not just to external things, but also to certain feelings or identifying too much with your pain.

Don’t worry if you’re feeling like you’d just been flung into a war zone and all you want to do is crawl into a hole and wait it out…

Enter Chiron Retrograde!

Chiron retrogrades beginning July 5th, 2018 and returns back into Pisces on February 18th, 2019. We know that retrogrades mean going back over terrain we’ve just recently visited – it’s a second chance to fix what we might not have gotten right the first time. It’s a chance to observe and reflect on how you can integrate lessons, or to relearn them and actually take them to heart. When you take into consideration the body involved, Chiron, and the signs it’s retrograding between, a wide net is cast. This is the retrograde between life and death, consciousness and unconsciousness.

When Chiron enters Aries there will be a birth. The wound will make itself known and issues might pop up that you’re unsure how to deal with. Memories may flood you, igniting rage or helplessness. This is the wound letting itself be known- think about the past 8 years and what main issues prevailed during this time. It’s likely these issues will have something to do with where Pisces falls in your chart and what planets you have in Pisces or planets with major aspects to Pisces (think squares, oppositions mainly, but you can also add in trines). These issues will be what hinders you from taking advantage of Aries energy. Think of it this way- Chiron wounds, so being in Aries, the Aries wound will be a result of Pisces energy not being utilized positively and to its full potential, leaving you unable to function within the Aries realm. If you can heal this Pisces wound, the Aries wound will be transcended. The lessons learned from Pisces will help fuel the dance of Chiron in Aries. Fortunately, the retrograde is a perfect time for you to solidify this healing and help yourself enter the actual rebirth coming February 18th 2019.

What does all this mean?

This means that from 2018-2027 you will be partaking on a journey of exploring your personal needs and desires. In general, Chiron in Aries asks us to look at ourselves and truly answer whether our actions are fueling our personal desires or if we are stunting our growth because of fear. It’s time to break free of chains, so take a look at what is weighing you down from meeting your dreams. Make a list of things you feel drain you more than fulfill you, things you know you need to shed in order to be truly happy.

Are there people in your life that take away your personal power?
Is your job filling you with dread every morning you wake up?
Are poisonous thoughts keeping you from being loving?

Examine these and explore ways you can make changes. Aries WANTS change, Aries REWARDS change. Don’t be afraid to cut out what doesn’t feed your soul, and ignite that which does. Aries wants us to get out of our comfort zone and express ourselves authentically and without apology.

“Set your life on fire. Seek those who fan your flames” Rumi

Here’s my game plan:

When Chiron enters Aries for the first time, I will be taking that time to explore the feelings that come up and write them down so I have a reference to when the retrograde season starts. I will not deny or attempt to change these feelings, but simply observe. Then, when Chiron retrogrades into Pisces, I will create another list of feelings that pop up. During the retrograde, I will compare lists and see if the Pisces wounds are related to the Aries wounds, and weave a plan to conquer them so I am fully ready to take on Chiron in Aries when it returns, giving myself a fresh slate to work with in February of 2019 and beyond.

How do you plan to heal?

Synopsis:

April 18th 2018: Chiron enters Aries. Unhealed wounds from the Chiron in Pisces age will be felt deeply as you’re birthed into this new era. Feel it out.

September 26th 2018: Chiron Retrogrades back into Pisces. It’s time to reflect, reassess, and redo anything that is not working for your best interests.

12th House Planets Musing

tree-3080406_640

I see a lot of talk about 12th house planets.

There’s no coincidence there, as the 12th house is known as the house of mystery and most everyone loves a good mystery. It’s clouded in confusion and can even be associated with darker things such as depression and hidden enemies. There’s a positive and negative association with every house — sometimes the line between the two isn’t clear. This is even more accurate when discussing the 12th house.

What if you don’t connect naturally to your 12th house planets?

Those who don’t connect naturally to their 12th house, but still have planets placed there in their natal chart, might complain of depression, lack of focus, confusion on how to succeed in life, difficulty finding happiness or a purpose, paranoia, apathy, etc. These are all very common as the 12th without a true cause to represent can feel lonely to the point of being painful. The 12th house can seem contradictory because it often produces those who prefer to be alone or at least those who are more secretive about their private lives. It really represents the collective, which is inside each and every one of us, and is anything BUT lonely. The fog needs to be lifted to see this connection and in order for those struggling with the energy to not feel so out of place.

How can we reconnect with our 12th house?

Everyone has their own way that works. For some it takes days, for some it takes years, but the key is patience. When you decide to devote yourself to connecting to your 12th house planets (or even just the sign ruling the 12th) you will notice little miracles all around you in your daily life. Synchronicities will line up. Things will start connecting. Your body will feel lighter, your heart will feel fuller, blessings will surround you, and life will make sense again. There will be a sense of purpose and beauty in your life that you may have lost or never even felt before.

Take a look at your 12th house.

Check if you have planets sitting inside your 12th house. If you do, check the following:

  • What sign is the planet in?
  • What sign rules the cusp?
  • What is the cusp ruler and where does it reside in your chart?
  • What aspects does this planet make to other planets and parts of your chart?
  • What element, mode, and strength does this planet hold?

Feel out the energies these 12th house planets hold. They create energy lines from your 12th to other parts of your chart, mapping out spiritual guidelines for this lifetime. It’s an awesome way of figuring out a life path that can deeply fulfill your soul. Map out your own destiny through exploring your 12th house energies and begin your journey to true satisfaction.

How do I connect with my 12th house?

I personally connect with my 12th house energies by taking time every day to meditate. I do this in order to silence my thinking mind and reinforce that my soul has space to make its deepest desires and dreams known. I give special attention to my body/mind/soul connection through yoga. I try to spend time in nature, observing the daily cycles and appreciating how truly beautiful it all is. All of these things help my 12th house sun feel connected and thrive. I feed my 12th house Pluto by acceptance, letting go of that which does not serve me in a positive way and turning seemingly negative things into blessings. I observe my own personal power and stay true to myself rather than repressing that which hurts me, building my strength and becoming grounded in who I am as a person. I use gentleness to heal my deepest wounds. I write out my dreams and allow inspiration to flow into me whenever it pleases, staying blissfully open and engaged with the spiritual and physical worlds. I have faith in the universe and faith in myself.

How do you harness the energy of your 12th house? What are your thoughts on the energy found there?

11th and 12th house dance

people-2567356_640

The cusp between the 11th and the 12th is the line into infinity and many get lost as they teeter back and forth. Many say that the 12th, home of Pisces, is where the Christ energy sits in its full glory. I believe this to be true. The 11th is connection with absolutely everything on this earth, but once one travels beyond the earth, the line appears, the fog rises, and the ground becomes slippery as the Pisces water rises. Slip and fall the wrong way and you might get lost forever. Slip and fall another way, and you’re back into the 6th, struggling your way toward the 7th, learning how to teeter better in the 8th, and so on. It’s better than falling into the gap forever. It’s just a lot of work. With one foot in earthly connections of the 11th, and one in the impossibility of the 12th, one can easily go mad. But taking the leap has to be done at some point. You can either fall back, or jump forward, but that crevice will betray you if you sit in it long enough. Finally diving into the abyss of the 12th you are reminded of all the 8th’s nightmares, and all the 4th’s pain, but you transcend them all. You see the beauty of the terror and the perfection of the agony and you cry tears of joy. You’ve made it to the beyond and are finally cradled in the arms of God.

Houses 4, 8, and 12

underwater-2387501_640

These are the ‘water’ houses.

Starting with the 4th house, we touch deeply to our roots- the blood that makes us up, the people that created us, and the soul that resides inside us in its most vulnerable position. This the house of family. Our ancestors and that which makes us up. This is more than physically, this is emotionally. It is the deepest part of our personal soul, and holds our individual past. This is where we are most vulnerable, for it is where we feel the need to be nurtured and taken care of. This is where we have early childhood burdens thrust upon us, or possibly positive influence from loving parents. Either way, it is the water that helps our seed grow. This water will affect our growth from the beginning to the end.

Moving on to the 8th house, we meet all our personal demons and come face to face with the dark side of life. This house has a spring, and up from the spring bubbles that which the 4th house holds, releasing that which we have repressed into the limelight. We must decide what to do with it. This baggage can weigh us down and others that connect with us. But it can also be transformed and allow us to help others transform their own. The 8th is where we meet our darkest fears. We often fight it or blame ourselves for it, but the goal of the 8th is to ‘let go’. With those two simple words we can conquer whatever it is we find in the 8th. We have deep impulses and passions that stem from the 8th because that which is unconscious or that we shove into the unconscious, will manifest eventually. The 8th will always be a catalyst and is not satisfied unless the soul is growing. So expect lessons and tests regarding that which you thought you had conquered. Because it’s not truly conquered if it bubbles up again.

That brings us to the 12th, where the baggage we couldn’t repress in the 4th bubbled up in the 8th and was sent to be entombed for all eternity. Luckily for our own souls growth, but not necessarily lucky for this life’s easiness, the tomb always finds a way to open. The 12th house is this tomb. It is our unconscious, making it our connection to the collective conscious. When we repress enough to enter the 12th, we have literally created our worst nightmares. The 12th rules dreams. This is where we are given messages from the divine, symbols to help us find our way. This is where our past lives are stored, and the past lives of everyone on this planet, and beyond. This is the absolute. It is where we combine the duality of human existence to create an understanding of the bigger picture. It is where we can meet our deepest compassion or our deepest despair. Most try to ignore this house, but it is subtle, and works through our unconscious thoughts, eventually leaking into the 1st and into the forefront of our lives. Here we take on the weight of the world. We take on the weight of existence. We discover the obscenity of violence, but we also discover the beauty of love. This is where we connect the dots and find our meaning, our fate, and our divine nature.

12th house Cusp

gothic-2910057_640

Whichever sign is on the cusp of your 12th house will give you a general idea of how you face the energy of this house. 12th house energy is associated with Pisces and Neptune. It is foggy, uncertain, spiritual, deep, introspective, secretive, confusing, chaotic. It rules the collective unconscious, mental disorders, things unseen, hidden information, and mysticism.

Sign on the cusp of the 12th house-

Leo- The search for enlightenment is highly individualized and creative for you. You may feel that art or creating is what keeps you in tune with the spirit. Being recognized for your efforts is important to you, but you also want others to be recognized for their efforts. Sharing your experience can make this the best of both worlds. Helping others help themselves. You must focus on taming your ego to reap the benefits of the 12th house.

Sagittarius- Your spiritual journey is far reaching and experimental. You enjoy gaining as many new experiences as you can in different types of spirituality in order to see what works for you. You make your own truth. Getting out there and exploring is your best bet in discovering that truth. You’ll be a life long learner and will encourage others to do the same. You feel most energized when you ride the waves of consciousness. You must be willing and open to new ideas in order to reap the benefits of the 12th house.

Aries- You are quick to judge or accept spiritual ideas and must learn to feel your way through them rather than jump into things. You may find yourself finding a path and rushing to change your life around it before you even realize what’s going on. If you are already on a path, you are childlike in your awe of the universe and can easily find the positive in situations. To gain the benefits of the 12th, take time to relax and feel through things without writing them off so quickly.

Virgo- Realistic results are what you aim for and you may ignore spirituality if it isn’t giving you what you want fast enough. You will look into things with great detail whether you admit it to others or not. If you are on a spiritual journey, you will follow all the rules and do everything by the book. Release your 12th house potential by letting your mind and research take a break, and trust your intuition instead.

Taurus- You can feel the beauty in the world but may not be able to see it. You are connected with the earth spiritually and nature will boost your optimism. You are stubborn when trying to change your mind and don’t know how to trust your intuition without stubbornly clinging to already decided upon ideas. The 12th house can be activated by exploring things you may not see as true, just for the sake of exploring them and releasing yourself from the material to see where your true values are.

Capricorn- You may ignore spiritual quests and see them as a waste of time. But deep down, when you take time to explore yourself, you can feel something more than all the physical things around you. When you take your spirituality seriously, you will be the leader that makes ideas into reality. You are the water-goat, essentially, you can swim the depths of Pisces and come back up onto the land to explain and share what you have seen. 12th house potential will be unlocked through opening yourself up to it, to put it simply.

Scorpio- The spiritual quest is not all butterflies and dandelions for you. You can see the dark and light and know that the integration is what it’s truly all about. You are possibly psychic (especially with planets here) and highly intuitive in spiritual matters and can sense right and wrong. Your spiritual journey is intense and transforming. Those who don’t open themselves up to this may fear spirituality and try to ignore it but it will always be lurking in the back of their minds. Unlock your potential by seeking compassion and linking it with duality. The 12th house will continuously give you new things to learn, so embrace them with a positive attitude.

Pisces- Neptune is at home here. There is magic in every day life for you if you know where to look- and you probably do. You have psychic powers (especially with a planet here) and can trust your gut to guide you. Riding the waves is easy for you but it’s easy to get lost or bogged down in escapism. To unlock your 12th house potential give yourself healthy boundaries and goals when you feel to ‘off the tracks’ and share with others what you’re thinking rather than keeping it to yourself. You are a teacher of the truest compassion there is. Use this gift!

Cancer- Nurturing others is your main goal toward spirituality. You can sense others’ emotions and feelings and see where it comes from, making you a very valuable healer. You were meant for energy work or counseling. The spiritual journey is a personal one and you put a lot of emotion into it. You can feel emotionally overwhelmed oftentimes, but this can be in a good way. Unlock your 12th house potential by learning how to harness your emotions and turn them into something productive in order to help others and yourself.

Gemini- The amount of information out there can be highly overwhelming and you may just put spiritual matters on the back burner if it gets too much. Or you could simply learn everything there is to know but not take it quite seriously or not know how to live it. When learning how to balance the information and picking out what rings true to you and what works for you, you can be a storehouse for information. To truly get your potential out of the 12th house, practice what you preach and don’t overdo the amount of information you’re letting in. Baby steps!

Libra- When on a path, you want nothing more than to share that path with others. Finding a teacher or mentor is important for you. Finding students is also important. You want to connect with others and can do this through your spiritual path especially using energy and mediation. If something doesn’t help you and another get closer or share an experience, it doesn’t fit into your ideal of a spiritual practice. You’d be perfect for meditation groups or yoga retreats. To unlock 12th house potential, learn how to walk by yourself and then when you have, invite others to join you.

Aquarius- The humanitarian! You are truly a visionary. You are idealistic but realistic and therefor can get things done. You understand how powerful the mind is and how everyone and everything connects together in perfect harmony. You desire to help others rise above emotional turmoil. Your personal quest is aimed toward global change and you will not rest until everyone knows the truth. This can also take a wrong turn toward arrogance or believing you are better than others if you cannot get the change you wish to see. The 12th house is about compassion, so use your goodwill toward men and link it with true emotional compassion in order to gain benefits from this house.

Saturn’s Chains

Saturn is a giant ball of gas floating out in space, complete with extremely fast swirling winds and a core of iron and rock. It’s is somewhat intimidating with its guards surrounding it in the form of rock and ice, like a ring of warriors waiting to attack in case anyone or anything tries to get close. As if the rings around Saturn weren’t enough company to keep, it has at least 62 moons that orbit it. Its biggest moon is Titan, being a little larger than Mercury. Some of its other moons are quite strange, holding different shapes than the traditional sphere.

Saturn, in astrology, is not an easy persona to peg. He can sway from extremely suffocating to outright justice. Mercy isn’t exactly Saturn’s strong suit. Justice, however, is. He gives out rules and puts boundaries on everything. He works hard to teach us how to work hard. He accepts responsibility and sees ways around it as pathetic. He does things the hard way. Saturn is structure. Saturn is the master of time and makes sure you don’t forget that. He organizes, perseveres, and doesn’t take short cuts. He disciplines roughly in order to get the seriousness of his cause across. He is, as he sees it, the ultimate authority. And he very well may be in many people’s lives since we live on a material plane and see this as the ultimate. He bows to no one. He nods his head only to those who have stood his long, tedious trials and come out on top all while being ethical.

Where Saturn sits in your chart will show you where the burden of harsh realities are felt the strongest. It will show you where you limit yourself or where others try to limit you. It will show you resistance and self-made boundaries. Saturn shows where you are hardest on yourself and others. It can cause difficulty in that area of life, but, following Saturn’s rules and putting in hard work and focused effort, also show where you will reap the most rewards. Most don’t rise to Saturn’s challenge and instead wallow in the ‘unfairness’ of life. Saturn is NOT unfair, he is just strict. He wants devotion to discipline and doesn’t allow excuses no matter how valid one may think they are. Once winning the favor of Saturn, one will win the favor of society and the hard work one does will be recognized.

Saturn spends about 2 and 1/2 years in each sign. This means that the sign your Saturn is in doesn’t affect you extremely personally, unless of course it is highly aspects. The sign can still tell of ways you work, however, especially when coupled with your house placement.

Saturn in the 1st house; Shows a strong sense of responsibility. Possibly very self-limiting and serious minded. May feel as if life is a daily struggle. Hard working. Always thinking about right and wrong. Hard on yourself and often have feelings of guilt. Feel as if there are too many demands placed on you at once.

Relieve this by taking control of your own decision making and don’t base it on whether you’ll feel guilty about it or not. You must learn to not take the weight of the world on your shoulders. Learn to relax and do things for yourself every once in awhile.

Saturn in the 2nd house; Constantly aware of their financial standing and possible low self-esteem regarding their ability to gain resources. Strong feelings towards the way our society works and feelings of being stuck in materialism. Doesn’t spend recklessly and may denounce others that do. Struggle between needing to possess and wishing to be free of the need.

Relieve this by positive reinforcement and telling yourself that you are able to support yourself. Then go out there and do it. Find something you enjoy that you can do to help finance the life you want. Realize you don’t need a lot to be happy and put more emphasis on values outside the physical realm.

Saturn in the 3rd house; Extremely self critical when it comes to communicating with others. Bounds self-expression inside in order to not be ridiculed. May find day-to-day life somewhat limiting and uncomfortable. Strong focusing powers that may leak into social area making them seem very serious. Possible difficulty learning or processing information, this can be purely mental or rooted in physical problems.

Relieve this by learning how to make mistakes and not feel traumatized by it. Put yourself out there and express yourself without rehearsing every once in awhile and don’t judge yourself so harshly when you slip up. You can do so much more when you aren’t critiquing every word you say, action you take, etc.

Saturn in the 4th house; Possible difficulties in childhood do to lack of affection or a parent that was overbearing and dominating. This person may have difficulty bringing out their nurturing side and find it awkward or non-existent (it is inside all of us). Feelings of inadequacy can lead to extremely low-self esteem and inner self being stunted and unexplored. Possible bitterness towards taking care of others.

Relieve this by reconnecting yourself with your inner nurturer. Start with yourself and allow yourself to be little again. Once you open up to your inner child it will be easier for you to see the beauty in helping others feel nurtured and loved.

Saturn in the 5th house; Seriously stunts self-expression. Feels as if expressing one’s self is unnecessary and bothersome. Spontaneity and optimism is possibly lacking. The need to work and exclude pleasure. Unable to relax or enjoy the little things in life with a laugh and a smile. Children, casual sex, and romance aren’t appealing and may be seen as a waste of time or tedious.

Relieve this by allowing humor, joy, and adoration back into your life. Don’t limit yourself. Do something silly. Don’t stifle your giggles. Go out and play. Watch a funny movie. Take a day off of work to dance, sing, paint, draw, swim, write poems, explore the woods, cuddle with a partner. Do something spontaneous.

Saturn in the 6th house; Denying self of pleasure. Strict daily routine. Living to work rather than working to live. Seeing things in black and white, feeling responsible for everything and leaving yourself no leeway. Feel in debt to others. Need to help others above yourself.

Relieve this by doing something little every day that is just for you. It can be a walk with your dog in the evenings followed by a scoop of ice cream, doing yoga in the mornings, etc. Also do something regularly a little bigger, such as going out dancing or spending time with your friends on a dinner date sharing stories over tea- whatever it is, make sure you enjoy it and are doing it for yourself. You must let go of all the responsibility you feel for everyone and everything and realize that you’re just one person and deserve to enjoy yourself while living your life. Even if it’s just the little things!

Saturn in the 7th house; Relationships may suffer. Feelings of suffocation when in relationships. Possibly attract domineering partners or are one yourself. Commitment is not taken lightly. Need time to grow bonds. Putting too many restrictions on how one relates to others, especially in romantic relationships.

Relieve this by opening your mind a little bit when it comes to relationships. There is not just one way to be in a relationship. There is not just ‘single’ or ‘married’. There are many gray areas in between and not all of them need to be so serious. Relationships should be fun! Whether they are a firm commitment or not. You can still enjoy yourself in them. Don’t let the feeling of impending doom in committed relationships linger- brush it off and use that energy toward making your partner feel loved. Find someone who is your equal rather than someone you can control or tries to control you.

Saturn in the 8th house; Extremely prone to transformations throughout lifetime. Anxiety regarding change. Sexual restriction. Exaggerated difficulty relating to death and the expectation of death. Strict on one’s view on their inner self and feels the need to put in hard work to change what is not working. Saturn in the Pluto house is rough- leaves no short cuts and the native puts a lot of pressure on themselves. Possible difficulty with money.

Relieve this by accepting change as a way of life. This means little changes as well as big changes, such as death. Release the constructs you have created around yourself in order to truly become who you are. Allow yourself to be lost in sexual union rather than limiting yourself or stressing out about it. Don’t be so harsh on yourself and know that with Saturn here, it may be hard, but transformation will always bring about a better and brighter you.

Saturn in the 9th house; Not open to new ideas. Possibly low educated or had difficulty in school. Possible travel anxiety or stress regarding traveling or broad subjects. Easily overwhelmed by new subjects or lots of information to learn. Unimpressed by philosophy and highly analytical and skeptical.

Relieve this by not dismissing new ideas too quickly. Broaden your mind. Don’t immediately get frustrated over new topics because of the excess of information, instead take small steps to learn it easier. Listen to other people’s opinions and experiences and don’t judge them or try to fit them into a category. Just take them as they are. Read some fiction! Possibly even science-fiction or fantasy to help deconstruct your strict view on reality.

Saturn in the 10th house; Feels scrutinized for life-decisions. Feels as if they’re always being judged. Need to take care of others or set them on the right path. Need to discipline and give rules to others ‘to help them’. May be seen as strict or serious-mannered by others. Sees themselves as upholding justice to the greatest degree. Possible father figure being domineering. Feeling the need to do what is expected of them.

Relieve this by letting go of the idea that you need to do what others expect you to do. Instead, look inside yourself and find what makes you happy and set out to do that. Also, resist the desire to constantly tell others how to live their lives. You may be trying to be helpful, but with Saturn in the 10th it seems domineering and restricting and can push others away. Instead use soft words and suggestions rather than rules.

Saturn in the 11th house; Friendship is taken extremely seriously and so you aren’t friends with just anyone. Possible loner. Doesn’t enjoy superficial conversation and feels disdain for those who partake in it. Difficulty making or keeping friends. Possible need to control others or have friends that want to control you. Feels responsible for friends. Doesn’t enjoy being part of a group and sees themselves as unique and mature.

Relieve this by seeing the beauty in every person you meet. Find positive characteristics in those you aren’t fond of. Let your friends make mistakes without ridiculing them or saying ‘I told you so’. Be more open to others and don’t put so much seriousness into communication and connecting with others when it doesn’t need to be. Be by yourself when you want, be with friends when you want- just don’t do something you don’t want to do because you feel responsible when you really aren’t. Take responsibility for yourself and your own actions and let others take theirs.

Saturn in the 12th house; Feelings of guilt intensified and the source may be unknown. Difficulty in life pushing native to consult other areas of relief. Possible addiction problems. Anxiety over losing hold on the emotions. Anxiety over losing one’s mind. Possible constant feeling of dread over life’s responsibilities. Possible strong devotion to spiritual matters. Loneliness and isolation. Deep sadness going unexpressed. Feeling the weight of the world.

Relieve this by getting all your secrets and difficulties out in the open. If it’s a lot, talk to a therapist or someone you trust. Express them all and then release them all. Realize that you aren’t an island. Many others have felt the things you do or did. Nothing is unfixable. Meditation is highly helpful for those with this position, as is making small adjustments to the daily routine such as daily yoga, writing, or exercise. Fear is unnecessary. Let go of it. Instead, visualize the positive things you want to manifest in your life. Don’t be afraid of your own power.
